Article--Pharmaceutical Rep Lunches Support Locally Owned Restaurants and Green Restaurant Practices.

Recently, what pharmaceutical companies and pharmaceutical reps spend on lunch has come under scrutiny.  While the debate has focused on pharmaceutical lunches increasing the cost of drugs, few take the time to look at how all these pharmaceutical lunches impact individual communities and local restaurants.

Many restaurants and caterers nationwide count on the pharmaceutical lunch as a much needed source of take-out and delivery income.  In fact, one company, Lunch and Earn, has created a business around the idea of connecting these restaurants to the pharmaceutical rep lunch business.

While Lunch and Earn is not the only company with this niche marketing concept, its owner, Amy Kristjanson, took a special interest in the value pharmaceutical rep lunches could bring to locally owned businesses.  She noticed that there were catering companies around the country that relied so heavily on the business pharmaceutical reps brought that many of them had names like Rx Catering or The Lunch Doctor; making it clear their intension to specialize in this niche market.  Amy decided that Lunch and Earn would do more than connect pharmaceutical sales reps to a random selection of restaurants and caterers.  She would make it her mission and the mission of the company to list as many local “mom and pop” restaurants and caterers as possible.

Today, the overwhelming majority of Lunch and Earn’s listings are locally owned restaurants.  The owner, Amy Kristjanson asserts that by listing these restaurants, and then marketing them to the high volume, consistent use pharmaceutical sales industry, they are helping to balance out the recent economic down turn many of these local establishments have experienced.

Lunch and Earn also supports Green Restaurant Practices by giving discounts on membership to Green Restaurants and by donating 10% of its profits to support both the local/organic food movement and Green Restaurant education.

How does this change what many perceive to be an overindulgence of doctors by the pharmaceutical industry?  Possibly, by focusing energy on the positive, Lunch and Earn translates medical office meals into a more vibrant locally owned restaurant community and a greener planet for all.  Learn more about Lunch and Earn at www.LunchandEarn.com.
